Wed 29 Jan > Sat 1 Feb. London Premiere
Sometime in the near future humanity has failed to adapt to the new ecological reality of climate change. Amidst the chaos, a family attempts to maintain a normal lifestyle and enjoy its traditional Sunday gathering, hilariously turning a blind eye to the mayhem that surrounds them as strong winds and torrential rain rage outside.
Meanwhile, somewhere above the Arctic Circle three travelling wildlife reporters are doing their best to document the apocalypse. With what little equipment they have they seek to film Earth’s last living species: three wild animals on the brink of extinction.
Using lo-fi special effects, puppetry, miniature vehicles and video Dimanche paints a witty and tender portrait of human ingenuity and stubbornness when faced with the uncontrollable forces of nature.

“Gorgeously realized”
“Exquisitely beautiful, gently humorous”
“As a piece of stagecraft, Dimanche is formidably done. It is not only the variety of techniques, ranging from the manipulation of miniature figures to mime and large-scale puppetry (cute polar bear alert). It is also the astonishing speed with which one scene dissolves into the next… The inventiveness is constant”
