The Heart Is In The Detail
A five-day Theatre Re Intensive exploring the tension between technical rigour and imaginative freedom.
Attention to detail and a commitment to specificity sit at the heart of Theatre Re’s performance language. But technical precision and physical excellence alone are not enough to create powerful and emotionally resonant theatre.
In this five-day intensive, we will explore how to bring spontaneity and technique together, how to craft an impulse without losing its vitality, and how to rehearse while improvising and improvise while rehearsing.
Through Corporeal Mime and the study of articulation, space, rhythm and weight, participants will investigate how to bring their physical choices to life and allow the smallest details to take on greater significance. We will explore how precision can become a source of imaginative freedom, allowing movement to become expressive, playful and alive. Moving between technical training, improvisation, composition and repertoire, participants will develop their performance skills, generate original material and push the boundaries of what theatre without a playwright can do.
Led by Guillaume Pigé (Theatre Re Artistic Director and RADA Associate Teacher), alongside Theatre Re Associate Artists, the workshop is designed for professional and semi-professional performers, actors, dancers, visual artists, students and recent graduates. No previous experience of Corporeal Mime is required, only curiosity and playfulness.
