Ockham’s Razor is one of the UK’s leading circus theatre companies. For over 20 years it has specialised in using original circus movement to create arresting, visual stories, starting from the vulnerability, trust and reliance that exist between physical performers. This workshop will be delivered by Charlotte Mooney, Co-Artistic Director of Ockham’s Razor with Nathan Johnston, Associate Artist and Choreographer.
This two-day masterclass will explore techniques of partner work and lifting, the crossover between circus and dance and playing with the images within movement and how they can be read.
In the morning sessions participants will work with Nathan to look at ways in and out of circus and dance lifts. We will be looking at how to bridge and play with the moment when we move from floor to air.
In the afternoon sessions participants will work with Charlotte to look at approaches to interpreting movement, how to draw out or adapt meaning.
This workshop is for circus or dance graduates and professionals with experience in partner work and lifting. We will be looking at deepening practice so it is not appropriate for beginners. If you are in any doubt about whether to attend please email: charlotte@ockhamsrazor.co.uk
We offer two bursary place for participants for whom the cost would be a barrier to access. To apply please write no more than 200 words on why you would like to be considered to ali@turtlekeyarts.org.uk Deadline 9 December 2026
